A friend put together a brunch for a few girls but, this was no ordinary brunch. We were brunching on and sampling DOUGHNUTS! Meg, our fabulous hostess and creator of MegBiram.com, served up an assortment of yummy doughnuts from a new-to-DC bakery, called District Doughnut. Fabulous flavors included: dulce de leche, chocolate, cinnamon (the
unanimous favorite), apple cake crumble, lemon meringue and a mocha espresso. While Paloma cocktails, fruit and sparkling water rounded out the afternoon menu, doughnuts were the main course. Most of them having a decadent filling and yes, they were all amazing.
The afternoon was filled with sampling, laughing and catching up. We chatted about dresses, bags and challenges that we each face as a small business owner. I have to say, there's nothing more powerful than having a group of fun women get together. The delicious food was simply an added benefit.
What better occasion than brunch for a second outfit post? The first came a year ago (here) after returning from London. As someone who wears muted colors, I stepped outside the box and went with teal and red, in a dainty dress, fit for a mid-week brunch.
Dress: Shoshanna (c/o Urban Chic)
Shoes: Michael Kors (TJ Maxx)
Bag: Louis Vuitton (Gift)
Necklace: From a market in Abu Dhabi (Gift)
Why it Works: The nude shoes anchored the look and kept the focus on the dress and necklace. While teal and red are completely different colors, it worked because the necklace tied in the colors of the dress and the bag, as they were both found in the necklace. They are also colors opposite one another on the color wheel, which means they compliment one another nicely. (More on that soon!)
