On Thursday, I hosted a shopping event at the newest Calypso St. Barth boutique in Bethesda with a portion of the proceeds from the night going to support United Way's initiatives in Central Maryland. I support the United Way on both a global and regional level and got great satisfaction out of knowing that the money raised would benefit those locally.
The boutique was buzzing that night. Vanilla almond strawberries were passed to the guests and Rose, pink lemon drops and sparkling water sipped throughout the night. I was thankful to have a fabulous professional photographer onsite to capture the evening of megawatt smiles. Between shopping, laughing and chatting, the "cell phone in hand" stance, normally seen as events in DC was no where to be seen.
A huge "Thank You" to Calypso St. Barth for opening up their doors, Redwood Restaurant for providing delicious fare and Abby Greenawalt for shooting (photos, natch!). But, the night wouldn't have been such a triumph without the guests. Success is such an subjective term, and in this case, it was defined by raising money for those in need.
