I've heard that "photos are worth a thousand words," but oftentimes a few simple words resonate through my soul and weigh heavy on the heart.
I was talking with a friend recently and she said something that really stuck with me. Since then, I've shared her words with others, all of whom commented on the wisdom found in the sentiment. The thought was passed on to her from one of her favorite yoga teachers and went like this:
So often, especially women, we give and give of ourselves until there is nothing left and our metaphorical cup is empty. In order to be great and ensure that we are taken care of, we must keep our cup full. What does that look like for you? For me, it's yoga, working out, family, coffee with girlfriends and time with Doug. Taking part in these activities all but guarantees my cup is filled to 100%. When I don't do the things that I need, for myself, to make me the best person that I can be, I'm only giving what's left in my cup. If I'm only 30% full, then that's all I have to give to others. But when I'm 100% full and do the things that I need to make me the best that I can be, then I also have 100% of myself to give to others.
It's a win-win; I'm happy because I'm doing the things that fill me with gratitude AND others have the benefits of getting the best version of me. Brilliant!
Here are a few other words that resonate with me this week:
